How We Teach
First the ear, then the hands.
Most DJ courses hand you software on day one and wonder why nothing sounds musical. We do it differently: you spend the first months on the things that actually make a Zouk DJ — listening, taste, knowing your music, building a library you trust. No gear required until you're ready for it. By the time you touch a controller, you already know what you're trying to say.
And you don't do it alone: small cohort, real homework, honest feedback from people who are your mentors. You learn by doing, then you find out what worked and what didn't. That's the whole loop.
What you're signing up for.
- 12 months A full year, paced so it sticks.
- Max 10 per cohort Learn together in a small, focused group. Everyone gets heard, everyone gets feedback.
- Prerecorded lessons High-quality modules you can watch on your own schedule.
- Monthly homework Practical tasks where you learn the craft. Reviewed by your mentors.
- One live call a month The whole group working together. Ask your mentors anything that is not clear.
- Built for real experience By the end you're not just finishing a course, you're ready to play out — festivals, parties, marathons, or any other Zouk event.
- A private cohort chat Your group on Discord, going through it together between calls.

Month 0 Introduction Call
Before anything begins, we get the cohort started together. We walk you through how the year works, what we expect from you and what you can expect from us, and how to get the most out of the months ahead. We'll also guide you on choosing a controller — no rush, no stress. You've got until Month 5 before you need one, and we'll help you pick the right one when the time comes.
Outcome: You start clear on how it works and who you're doing it with.
Month 1 Foundations of DJing Free in Discord
A DJ guides an experience, not just plays songs. You'll learn the mindset: storytelling through music, emotional flow, serving the floor over your own ego. By the end you understand what the job actually is.
This month's video is free and open to the whole community — find it in the Discord (opens in new tab) .
Month 2 Music Discovery & Identity
Where do you find music, and what makes it yours ? You'll dig for tracks, map your taste, and start shaping a musical direction that's recognizably you — not a copy of the DJ you admire.
Outcome: You start developing your own musical identity.
Month 3 Music Organization & Preparation
The unglamorous skill that separates pros from the rest: tagging systems, energy and mood labels, quality control, file formats, a library you can actually find your way around mid-set.
Outcome: A clear system for organizing tracks. A songs preparation checklist.
Month 4 DJ Software & Technical Foundations
Understanding the foundations that all DJ software share. Using common techniques like beatmatching, phrase matching, timing, track structure, and getting to your first transitions. The technical foundation everything else sits on.
Outcome: You understand the mechanics of DJ software and mixing.
Month 5 Mixing Fundamentals
Smooth, intentional transitions. EQ mixing, harmonic mixing, looping, energy control, intros and outros. The difference between two songs colliding and two songs becoming one.
Outcome: You can mix tracks together cleanly and confidently.
Month 6 Reading the Room
A set isn't a playlist. You'll learn to read dancers, manage energy across a night, and pace an emotional journey — balancing the songs people know with the ones you want to show them.
Outcome: You start shaping the feeling of the floor, not just the sound.
Month 7 Performing at Events
The real-world stuff nobody teaches you. Hardware setup, soundcheck, booth etiquette, working with organizers, handling pressure, starting a set, and handing over cleanly to the next DJ.
Outcome: You can walk into a booth and look like you belong there.
Month 8 Advanced Mixing
Expanding your toolkit. Stems, effects, faster mixing, drop manipulation, big contrasts, layering, multi-deck work. More ways to say what you want to say.
Outcome: More creative control and flexibility.
Month 9 Creativity in DJing
Finding the thing that makes a set sound like you . Experimentation, risk, signature moves, tension and release. This is where technique turns into voice.
Outcome: You start developing a recognizable style.
Month 10 You Choose
The cohort votes. One month shaped around what your group most wants to go deeper on — advanced musicality, head-DJ skills, event programming, performance mindset, wherever the energy is.
Outcome: You go deep on what matters most to you.
Month 11 Building Your DJ Brand
The career side. Reputation, networking, professionalism, social media, how you talk to organizers and other DJs, how you build trust that lasts. What do you want dancers to remember you for?
Outcome: A professional presence you can grow on.
Month 12 Final Project
Everything, applied. A full recorded set, a live simulation, or a guided performance — your year of work in one piece, with feedback to send you off.
Outcome: You prove how far you've come, to us and to yourself.
The DJs you'll learn from.
Three Brazilian Zouk DJs from three countries, playing and teaching this music across Europe and the US. Between us, years on festival floors, in booths, and in front of rooms full of dancers — and a shared belief that this craft is better taught openly than guarded.

After completing The Journey, there's an optional next step: we come watch you play at an event, give you honest word on whether you're ready, and if you are, you receive The Loop Certification and we put your name forward to organizers we know. A real recommendation from DJs who play these floors, not a printable badge.
Money shouldn't be the reason you can't.
If you're from a country where these prices are genuinely out of reach, or you're going through a hard stretch financially, write to us. We keep a few quiet spots aside in every cohort.

Good questions.
How do I register?
The registration date is always shown on the website. When registration opens, we'll notify everyone in The Loop Discord.
Do I need DJ gear to start?
Not for months. The first stretch is all listening, taste, and preparation — no controller required. You'll know when it's time to get one, and we'll help you choose.
What if I've never DJed at all?
Then this journey is perfect for you! We start at the very beginning — what a DJ actually does — and build from there.
What if I'm already experienced?
The better you get, the more you hear — so there's something in every month for you. The early ones aren't beginner filler; they're about how you choose music and why, your identity, reading a floor — the things that make a Brazilian Zouk DJ, not just someone who can mix. The homework scales to push you, and the later months go deep on advanced mixing, creativity, and brand.
How much time does it take each month?
Plan for a few hours a week — the lessons, then the homework. It's paced to fit around a life, but you get out what you put in.
What if I fall behind?
Lessons are prerecorded and yours to rewatch. Life happens. The cohort and the monthly call keep you anchored, but nobody's failing you for a slow month.
What's the difference between Resources and The Journey?
Resources gets you the lessons, the wiki, and the trusted links — on your own. Cohort adds the people: the small group, homeworks and review from us, the live call, and feedback. If accountability and a crew matter to you, choose Full journey.
What to do if I didn't get in?
We know that spots are very limited, so make sure that you register as soon as the registration opens. We will start a new Cohort every half a year.
Ready to actually learn this?
Enrollment opens June 2026. The first month's video is free in the Discord, so you can start before you spend a thing. When the cohort opens, that's where you'll hear it first.
Free Month 1 lives there. Enrollment details drop there in June.
